The impact that our physical health has on our mental health and our mental health on our physical health, is significantly underestimated. It’s important that we understand what is going on in our bodies so that we can understand how this impacts our mood, energy levels, sleep, diet, exercise, all of which ultimately have an impact on our overall feelings of wellbeing and our mental health.
The mind and body are complex systems. When we have an awareness of how our body functions, such as what our hormones are doing or what foods we are intolerant to, we can take charge of our health in a way that we never could before. The easy to use tests listed below will offer insights into how your body is functioning. The results of these tests can be used and discussed with your own GP, or they can be considered during psychological sessions with Dr Charlotte, where we aim to gain an understanding of physical factors which may impact your mental health, as well as looking at how your mental health is impacting your physical health. With this knowledge, in addition to discussing the type of psychotherapy that you might need, we can explore practical changes that you can make which will hopefully result in you feeling happier and healthier.
